Lately I have mostly been focusing on aerobic cardio and some random weights here and there in terms of working out. I don’t have any specific plan, I just kind of do whatever I am feeling that day. While that works for the most part, yesterday I found myself wanting to push myself and follow a routine. One of my favorite blogs to get workouts (especially at home ones) is from Jess at Blonde Ponytail and it just so happens that she is also pregnant which means even more workouts that are right for me!
Yesterday I did her Prenatal Fitness Home Workout and it was just the right mix of pushing myself but also being smart about working out while pregnant. I can’t say enough good things about Jess but she really knows her stuff and even when pregnant, she is a beast!

I was reading somewhere that working out while pregnant not only keeps your body healthy, prepares your body for labor, and helps you get back to your pre-baby body faster, but it also helps you mentally. There is an obvious weight and body image aspect that comes into play during this time and keeping active and fit helps to keep you proud of yourself and more accepting of the changes that your body has to go through. I also read that working out also means that you are more likely to crave healthier foods rather than all the pizza and ice cream your heart could desire (this was not from a medical journal or anything, I’m pretty sure I read it on Hungry Runner Girl
).
I don’t know if I was more conscious of it or if it was actually the effect of the workout but I definitely found myself gravitating towards the “better” options the rest of yesterday rather than the leftover pizza.
I ran by Target yesterday for a few things and I wasn’t planning on getting any apples until I saw how huge the honeycrisp apples were. They’re usually pretty large during their peak season but I was shocked to see these bad boys. I couldn’t resist adding a few to my cart and they have made for some filling snacks.
I was trying to show a size comparison so you could understand just how big these apples are. This mug from our office kitchen is fairly big so I think it’s safe to say that this apple may have been the product of some genetically modified food project!
Lunch today was pretty simple- a chicken Caesar salad from Noodles & Company. Brianne and I just walked the few blocks from our office to pick it up and the way they packed it was kind of cool to me. The chicken was in its own small container and the dressing was in little cups as well so the lettuce didn’t get soggy from the dressing or too warm from the chicken. A little touch but it’s nice when a company goes out of their way to keep their product as close to in-restaurant standards as possible. Noodles’ containers are also reusable so it’s like free Tupperware!
I was up and in the office extra early this morning so I am planning to workout when I get home. I have a couple of prenatal workout videos that I have been wanting to try out and since following an actual planned workout seemed to be a success yesterday, I figured why not do it again today?
Question:
What is your favorite kind of apple?
Where do you find workout routines (online, on tv, etc)?

Gala, golden delicious and honey crisp are my faves. Actually, there are few types (cough, green) I don’t like!
Totally agree that exercising makes me crave healthier foods. I especially tend to crave healthier foods when I’m on a hot yoga kick. Might fork over some serious cash money to make that happen on the reg!
Fuji for lunch today!
