Today I woke up feeling not so hot but I’m learning to roll with the punches a little better. After a busy day at work, I was feeling better and knew that I wanted to get a run in on the treadmill. It’s been a while since I just plain out ran and today I felt ready. Before I hopped on the treadmill though, I was in the mood for a snack. There were some leftover Skittles from my adventures into baking that caught my eye but I figured that a bowl of Greek yogurt might be a little better for me.
Dinner had been planned early on with a crockpot meal on the agenda. After reading Julie’s post about doing a crockpot challenge, it got me thinking about some old reliable meals that are crockpot friendly. This one is a crowd pleaser at our house and we almost always have the ingredients on hand. All you need is chicken, taco seasoning, and salsa! I prepped everything and cooked it on low for 6 hours before shredding.
While dinner was finishing up, I started the treadmill while watching Perfect Pitch. This was my first time using the heart rate monitor that Carey generously sent me the other day. My doctor recommended keeping my heart rate under 140 so whenever I got near or above that number, I backed off until the number had dropped enough. It definitely helped me mentally because I knew when I could push and when I needed to take it a little easier.
I also had my fitbit on and I was pretty happy to see my flower was happily growing up a storm thanks to my activity levels!
Once I had completed 4 miles on the treadmill, I started the final touches to dinner. I shredded up the chicken and left the crockpot on warm since Shane wasn’t going to be home for a couple hours.
I had picked up a couple avocados at the grocery so I decided to whip up a small batch of guacamole to snack on before dinner time.
Once Shane got home, it was time to dig into some chicken tacos! The tortillas we used were perfectly soft and actually smaller than they look in the picture. They were taco size rather than the burrito size that they look in the picture. We ate our tacos while catching up on The Biggest Loser from Monday night.
I was pretty happy to be back on the run so to speak and it got me motivated for our upcoming half marathon in March. The flight prices have been dropping so it looks like we’ll probably be able to go after all!
Question:
What equipment do you use to track heart rate, distance, etc? I am currently using my fitbit, the heart rate monitor and my Runkeeper app when I am running outside
What is your favorite crockpot recipe?

I’ m really looking into buying a HR monitor but I’m unsure of which kinds are good that won’t break the bank. Do you have any suggestions?
I use mapmyrun when I run outside.
My friend sent me her old HRM, it’s a Polar and only track time and heart rate. That’s perfect for me because right now all I’m trying to do is track HR, but I would look at some other Polar options that give you other feedback as well. You can usually find a a pretty good deal on Amazon!
