Thanks for all of your kind comments and emails yesterday! We were so excited to share the news finally with everyone and I couldn’t believe all of the support and excitement that we got from everyone. It was really fun to come up with a creative way to announce our big news and now that the cat is out of the bag, we don’t have to be sneaky anymore.
Now that I am officially out of the first trimester, I’ve been having a lot more energy and less nausea. That is a relief because I was getting a little frustrated with my most frequent exercise being walking. It also means that I finally have some interest in foods other than toast and I’m back to getting some protein in my diet.
This morning I made breakfast for both Shane and me. Usually on Saturday mornings during the winter, he has early morning tournaments for wrestling but last night he got into a little accident (just with the curb, no one else) because of the crappy weather. That meant that he needed a ride to the rental car place but they weren’t ready for him until after 9 am.
I guess I lied when I said that I was done with toast. I actually made myself some French toast using egg whites, almond milk, cinnamon, and Sara Lee 45 calorie whole wheat bread.
Shane isn’t a French toast fan so I made him an egg white omelet and a couple of Morningstar breakfast veggie patties.
After our warm breakfasts, we started heading over to the car rental place, but when Shane talked to them on the phone, they said they wouldn’t have a car for him until 11am. I had put the dogs (we’re watching Molly for a few days) in the car, planning to take them to the dog park after dropping off Shane, so we decided just to go to the off-leash area at Cherry Creek State Park. The open space area is HUGE and we’ve never taken Daisy there so it seemed worth a shot.
They absolutely loved it! They just kept sprinting off and then working their way back to us, even coming when we called (almost on the first try
). There was a surprising amount of people out since my car was telling us that it was 7 degrees outside. We were bundled up but once we’d been moving around for a while in the sun, I dared to unzip my jacket.
That proved to be a big mistake as the sun went away a little and the wind picked up. It didn’t seem to slow the dogs down at all of course.
Molly actually ended up jumping in the water like a crazy person and by the time she got back to us, her fur was covered in icicles but she didn’t seem to mind too much.
I forgot to wear my fitbit monitor but we were out there for close to an hour and probably covered around 2 miles total. My plan is to run on the treadmill inside (I will not be venturing back outside again today!) while catching up on some recorded shows. I am also making the cake and cupcakes for our friend, Chris’s (who made our wedding invitations) daughter who is having her 5th birthday party tomorrow. The theme is My Little Pony and I’ve been given creative license to decorate however I want within that genre. I will definitely be sharing pictures of whatever I come up with!
Question:
What gets you out of the house on a freezing day?
Did anyone know that there is a new generation of My Little Pony? Apparently there is a newer crew and that is the inspiration behind the birthday party- I guess I was out of the MLP loop!

Big fan of the trails around Cherry Creek Reservoir! And congratulations on your pregnancy–that’s so exciting!
That’s where I did most of my marathon training last year, it’s just so huge! Thanks, we’re really excited!
