Last night Shane and I decided to stay at my parents’ house since his new job is only 10 minutes away from their house but closer to 40 from ours. I planned to work from home today so it worked out perfectly for us to come and hang out. Since Shane got there much earlier than I did, he and my sister decided to tackle dinner together. I got a text saying, “Is there anything in particular that you’re in the mood for?” Ever since I had seen a picture of Courtney’s goulash, I had been in the mood for pasta shells so I responded that pasta with ground turkey sounded really good.
This was the text that I got back…
Umm, okay…? I was skeptical at first but I know that Shane prefers more than the basic food groups that I tend to stick to and my sister (the vegan) loves trying out new dishes for everyone else. I have to admit that they were right because these homemade gyros turned out great!
They weren’t able to find the sauce that is typically found in gyros so we went with a sour cream or hummus option and no one seemed to mind too much. At first we weren’t entirely sure how to load up our pita bread but once my sister explained that it is basically “a Greek burrito”, we figured it out just fine.
Since we were staying at my parents’ house, we weren’t in as much of a rush as we usually are and could even sleep in a little. I decided to make both of us a real breakfast of eggs and toast, it was nice to change things up before I got sick of having oatmeal every day.
Molly has an electronic fence at my parents’ house but Daisy hasn’t been trained on it, nor does she have the collar so when the two of them are together, it’s important to get them some exercise early on so that they’re not just whining all day long. I took them on the 1.5 mile walk/run to the dog park and back which will hopefully keep them out of my hair for the next few hours at least.

I was looking for a circuit workout to do after our dog park stint so I went to my Cardio and Cocktails Workouts board on Pinterest and came across this one that I haven’t done since we were in Boston. Last time I did this one, I was with Shane and his BFF, Wes. We completed this one by the pool and those boys were sweating by the end of it!

It was no summer workout by the pool but it definitely got the job done! I have to say that I preferred doing this one in the sun and with workout partners but the Tabata style keeps things moving and you’re done before you know it.\
Question:
Do you ever go back and find workouts that you had forgotten about?
Are you adventurous with your food choices or do you stick with the same old thing?

I went to dinner with a few high school friends tonight and oddly enough, gyros was a topic of conversation! Down the street from my apartment, there’s a little late night gyro place. I’ve actually had it once, but it’s kindaaaaa sketchy lookin’. The ones you guys whipped up look delicious!
Oh you’re missing out tzatziki sauce makes the dish! You can actually find it in the fridge section (usual by the cheese, prepared foods) in most big grocery stores now. It’s super easy to make too all you need is Greek yogurt, cucumbers & garlic. They do still look delicious though!
