I am pumped to start my new fitness program and when deciding what to have for breakfast, I took a look at the tips that Carrie had given me. The one that really stuck out this morning was NEVER have a meal (or snack) that is protein-less. I wasn’t in the mood for anything specific this morning so I looked around my cupboards for inspiration.
I decided that a frozen protein smoothie sounded good and when I found some canned pumpkin, I knew I was on to something. I also grabbed almond milk, frozen bananas, vanilla protein powder, cinnamon and pumpkin pie spice. I threw it all in the blender and came up with a creamy pumpkin smoothie packed with protein! I was never a huge fan of pumpkin but it has really started to grow on me. I wasn’t sure I was ready for a full on pumpkin smoothie but the taste wasn’t too aggressive which was perfect.
This definitely hit the spot and got my nutrition in order to start the day. On tap today is my first workout of Phase 1 as well as an easy 3-4 mile run just to get that sweat going. Hopefully all those exercise endorphins will put me in a good mood for the dentist because I DREAD that place so much.
I have a feeling that this week is going to zip by since my friend Carey’s wedding is this weekend- The countdown is on! Happy Monday!
Question:
What is your favorite flavor or ingredient to experiment with?
Do you have any new workouts or routines coming up or are you just staying consistent with what’s working for you now?

Yum! My favorite, oddly enough are beets! Facebook: Balanced Peanut. Maybe we need to do a smoothie challenge together?!
I really surprised myself when I tried pumpkin in my oatmeal last year in the spirit of fall and loved it! Otherwise, I’m pretty bad about experimenting because I am an awful, awful, awful cook. It’s bad. I need to marry a man who is good at using a stove, oven, food processor, etc…
As soon as this marathon is over i have big plan to take more classes at my gym. Yoga, boot camp spinning — you name it, I wanna try it!
This sounds amazing! I have some frozen pumpkin that I may have to try for tomorrow. Thanks for the fun fall food idea.
